Range Of Cooking Workshops

  1. HEALTHY LUNCHBOXES - Whole class per session
    An established favourite.
These sessions have fun and healthy lunch ideas that children can make at home and would be suitable to eat at school. Children make three items and package these to take home or eat together as a class.

  2. HEALTHY BREAKFASTS - Whole class per session
All children make three breakfast items which will provide them with energy for the day ahead. Children work in three groups of ten so a class of thirty takes part in the hour-long session.

  3. HEALTHY SNACKS - Whole class per session
An exciting and innovative workshop that explores the colourful and healthy ways that fruit and vegetables can be used to create snacks (Juices, soups and wraps).
A Key Stage 2 workshop only.

  4. PARENT NUTRITION
These are hands-on sessions that involve up to twenty parents making a range of healthy lunchbox ideas, after-school snacks and light meals.  They provide practical instruction, taste-testing, recipes and samples to take home.  They are informal sessions in which parents can share with others in the group about the healthy food ideas that they try at home.

  5. ONE WORLD - Small group sessions
Are based on a culture that is being studied or on the ethnic backgrounds that are in the school.  Workshops tie in well, for example, with Black History Month in which children take part in making a range of African and Jamaican foods.

  6. CURRICULUM-LINKED
Workshops provide links to areas such as; Science - looking at change and prediction, PSHCE - personal health, Literacy- instructional text, Mathematics - measurement, Geography - looking at food from other countries, Religious Education  - linking in with religious celebrations.

  7. TEACHER TRAINING/INSET Half-days culminating in a group lunch
Workshops are run in conjunction with the staff of a particular school or as a part of a borough 'Food in Schools' day, etc to provide practical ideas that may include setting up the room, safety with cooking, healthy recipes and pupil involvement.
